TOM LIDDY TO ADDRESS SIGMA CHI ALUMNI
Attorney, son of G. Gordon, talk-show host, Chairman of the Maricopa
County Republican Party and Delegate to the Republican National
Convention Tom Liddy will give his impression of the convention and
the political campaign leading up to the November election when he
speaks at the September meeting of the
Phoenix Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, September 8 at the Phoenix City
Grill Restaurant, 5816 N. 16th Street (Southwest corner with Bethaney
Home Rd.) in Phoenix. Cocktails at 6pm, followed by dinner at 6:30
and our speaker at 7:00.

again at the Ben Avery Shooting Range

WHAT TO BRING:
Experienced Shooters: Pistol, holster, gun belt, ear protectors,
ammunition, hat, water
Inexperienced Shooters: A sturdy belt, hat, water. WE HAVE
INSTRUCTORS THAT WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO SHOOT
COST: $15.00 Range Fee plus cost of ammunition for inexperienced shooters

THE HARLEM GLOBETROTTER’S MATTHEW SCHMITZ IS SIG SPEAKER FOR AUGUST
Brother Matthew Schmitz, Assistant General Manager for the Harlem
Globetrotters International, Inc. will talk about the storied organization and
it’s players when the Phoenix Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter meets.
The August meeting is set for Wednesday, August 11 at the Phoenix City Grille
Restaurant located at 5816 N. 16th Street (Southwest corner with Bethany Home
Rd.) in Phoenix. Cocktails at 6:00pm, dinner at 6:30 and our speaker at 7:00.
We are honored to have Brother Frank J. Raymond, President of the Sigma Chi
Foundation join us for the meeting.

SIGMA CHIS WILL LEARN WHAT HAPPENS BEHIND THE RADIO TALK-SHOW
MICROPHONE AT THE MAY ALUMNI MEETING
Controversial radio talk-show host Charles Goyette will tell us his
view of the local radio scene at the May meeting of the Phoenix Sigma
Chi Alumni Chapter.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, May 12 at The Phoenix City Grille
Restaurant, 5816 N. 16th Street (Southwest corner with Bethany Home
Rd.) in Phoenix. Cocktails at 6pm, followed by dinner at 6:30 and our
speaker at 7:00.
April 2004 Meeting Notice
SIGS WILL BE INSPIRED AT THE APRIL ALUMNI MEETING
The DVD video “Hope For The Future”, which will have special meaning
for all Sigma Chis, will be featured at the April meeting of the
Phoenix Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter. This is a video produced by a
couple of Sigs that outlines the Founders and what Sigma Chi stands
for. It is extremely well done.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, April 14 at the Phoenix City
Grille Restaurant, 5816 N. 16th Street (Southwest corner with Bethany
Home Rd.) in Phoenix. Cocktails at 6pm, followed by dinner at 6:30
and our program at
7:00.

Alumni involved with the Mentoring Program at ASU are urged to attend
the meeting.

Controversial radio talk-show host Charles Goyette is our scheduled
speaker for the May Alumni Chapter Meeting.

We are planning on a number of events outside the normal dinners for
the coming months and the already planned Golf Outing. Some of the
events being looked at: a day @ Bro. Scott Sander’s go-kart racing
facility, a Diamondbacks game, bowling, a motorcycle tour. We hope
to have a feedback form up on the website http://www.phoenixsig.org
soon where you can give us ideas for some activities that you might
like to see.

The new Colony up at Embry-Riddle in Prescott is thinking about
holding a Golf Tournament up in Prescott in the early fall when it is
still miserable and hot in Phoenix but cool and temperate up in there
part of the state.

SIGS WILL HEAR FROM A BROTHER THAT RE-BUILDS LIVES AT THE MARCH MEETING
Brother James E. Bertz,M.D.,D.D.S.,F.A.C.S. Alpha Chapter(Miami)’56, who
several times a year, performs Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery on poor
disfigured children and adults living in third-world countries will speak at
the March meeting of the Phoenix Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, March 10 at The Phoenix City Grille
Restaurant, 5816 N. 16th Street (Southwest corner with Bethany Home Rd.) in
Phoenix. Cocktails at 6pm, followed by dinner at 6:30 and our speaker at 7:00.

Copies of the new Phoenix Sigma Chi Alumni Directory will also be
available for pickup by dues paying members of the Alumni
Chapter. This new directory has all the known Sig’s living in the
Greater Phoenix Area – almost 3,000!

PLANNED FOR NEXT MONTH
Brother Bill Gibney and his wife Cheryl Parker are again hosting our
February Chapter meeting at their lovely north Phoenix home. This
“meeting” will actually be a Valentine’s Day party for brothers and
their sweethearts.
Here are the details:
DATE: Wednesday February 11, 6:00 to 9:00PM
LOCATION: Bill and Cheryl’s home at 4122 E. Mission Lane in Phoenix
DIRECTIONS: Shea Blvd. to 40th Street. South on 40th Street to
Mission Lane (approximately .8 mile south of Shea). East on Mission
Lane to 4122
DINNER: Will be catered and will include wine and beer
COST: Approximately $50.00 per couple
ATTIRE: Cocktail
Bill and Cheryl’s home is beautiful, next to the Phoenix Mountain
Preserve and is an ideal location for this affair.
