August 2001 Meeting Notice
CLAREN SCOTT ADVISES ON HANDLING THE MEDIA
The experience can be as painful as a trip to the dentist but being
confronted by a TV camera or a reporter with a notebook doesn’t have
to be a sweat-inducing ordeal.
Longtime Channel 10 anchor Claren Scott has teamed with Sue Breding
to form NewsAdvisors, a company devoted to teaching techniques that
can make anyone from a C.E.O. to a chauffeur comfortable in being grilled.
Scott (and possibly Breding, too) will tell us all how to look good
and sound credible when she addresses the Phoenix Alumni Chapter of
Sigma Chi on Wednesday (August 8) night.
The time and place remain the same — 6 p.m. at Phoenix City Grill,
SW corner of 16th Street and Bethany Home Road. Drinks begin at 6,
followed by dinner at 6:30 and our speaker(s) at 7.

Upcoming speakers:
Sept. 12 — Mike Pulos, owner of Mike Pulos’ Spaghetti Company, has
operated resaurants in the Valley for decades and has seen the dining
landscape change incredibly. He’ll assess the current state of
eateries and offer some predictions for the future.
Oct. 10 — Dennis Garrett, head of DPS.
Nov. 14 — Ritual
Dec. 12 — The speaker is TBA, but in recognition of the holiday
season, we open the meeting to spouses. Wives and girl friends are
welcome and encouraged to join us.
